Sees Candies

Everyone remembers that episode of I Love Lucy, where Lucy and Ethel are trying without success to wrap chocolates that are streaming down a conveyer belt at ever-increasing speeds.

That scene was shot on location at See's Candy factory in downtown Los Angeles. Like everything else in the city that is truly an icon, the See's factory was used as a set by Lucy's production company, Desilu Studios.

But there is nothing make-believe about the enduring quality and utter deliciousness of See's candies. Great candy is a strong seller at the airport, both for immediate consumption and to give as a gift.

Whether the indulgence takes the form of a hunk of peanut brittle, a piece of toffee, a coconut bar or a caramel lollypop, it is a rare traveler who can resist a See's candy display–as the success of the current LAX stores would indicate. And See's Candies are perfect for gift giving as well as immediate consumption.

Through the years, the See's name has become a household word for great candy in California and all over the rest of the US due to their pioneering Internet presence in the 1990's. The popularity of See's has spread internationally. See's now ships all over the world, and has stores in Japan, Hong Kong and Macau.

Sweet!
