Sun Studio “Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll.” When 18-year-old Elvis Presley walked into Sun Studio in Memphis to record “That’s Alright Mama,” he was asked who he sounded like. He said, “I don’t sound like nobody.” And he sang like nobody ever had, with the honesty of the blues and the wildness of an all-night party. Back in the day, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Elvis were all friends together at Sun Studio. Their collaboration created a new sound. It had the Beat, the Soul, and especially the Attitude that came to be called “Rock N Roll. The Sun Studio store conjures up that amazing era with a full line of authentic CDs and merchandise: legendary T’s, Sun recordings, Sun caps, shirts and gear; books and posters; sunglasses, mugs and lots of other stuff that’s cool, man, cool! |
